“Beverly Hills Cop” series slated to be released in 2010.

Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, the screenwriting team behind Angelina Jolie’s “Wanted,” are writing the newest “Beverly Hills Cop,” which finds Axel Foley back in action 15 years later. Why? His former partner, the goofy Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold), has just jumped off a 20-story building and Axel refuses to believe that he would have committed suicide. Hell-bent on finding his friend’s killers, Axel returns to the hills of Beverly. He is joined by a wacky chauffeur and a new partner with bad self-esteem and a non-existent love life.

According to Latino Review, Eddie Murphy is not too jazzed on the new storyline. Maybe it’s because the wise-cracking Axel fans know and love is nowhere to be found and has become “pretty much a Terminator in this movie?”
