Need Help God of War 1 Final Battle God Mode

I have played through the game on God Mode to the final battle.
I have full health and full magic and all weapons and abilities have been upgraded to the max.
My Rage of the Gods meter is 3/4 th full.
I can't get past the first battle with Ares no matter what I do.
I've used Army of Hades as much as I can and try to dodge attacks but I can't seem to get past this part.
I saved just before the final battle so I can't revert to a earlier save to try to fill up the Rage of the Gods meter.
I'm stuck with no way to win.

If anyone has any tips or suggestions please tell me.



Also do you get any bonus items or free upgrades when you play God of War 2 if you beat God of War 1?
Like when I played Ratchet and Clank 2 you get free weapons and upgrades if you have a saved game from Ratchet and Clank 1.

I managed to beat ares in god mode.
It was really difficult.
