The CW has given a pilot pickup to a real-time medical drama from "American Idol" creator Simon Fuller.

The project, "Austin Golden Hour," follows a close-knit team of young emergency room surgeons and EMTs during the critical, adrenaline-filled 60 minutes immediately following a trauma. "Hour" will also follow the love lives, jealousies and rivalries of those men and women.

"Hour," from Fuller's 19 Entertainment and CBS Paramount Network TV, is written by Lance Gentile and Mal Young, who also are executive producers.

Gentile has written for "Third Watch" and "ER," while Young executive produced "Doctor Who
