one & all,
a dvd recorder with multi-region functionality means it can PLAY BACK both PAL & NTSC dvds right?
what about the functionality to RECORD NTSC?
i need the dvd recorder to take in NTSC feeds, hopefully through a RGB SCART, and then record the feed in NTSC format.
can anyone suggest a model or two?
maybe a site with detailed information?
big ta in advance.
p.s. remember that i'm in the 51st state! (UK!)

Not necessarily: "multi-region functionality means it can PLAY BACK both PAL & NTSC dvds"
But yes, LiteOn can play both PAL and NTSC. It can only record what is native to your land. For me NTSC, for you PAL. The LiteOn is the best PAL player I've ever seen, when you're in the USA.
But pretty much all PAL players can play NTSC as NTSC60.

Does anyone know of a good DVD player that is mult-region and removes the copyright protection? I have a Classic, but is starting to give me problems.

so LS, whats the best way to record my NTSC cartoons?
feed the cartoons via scart into a multi-region multi-format dvd recorder?
such that the machine will accept the NTSC feed/signal, but record in PAL?
i ask since my jvc drm100 doesn't want to take the NTSC feed. or have i simply missed something in the menus?

okay, lets go back a step.
have got a set of ntsc laserdiscs. am playing it on a pioneer cld-925.
viewing on the tv is fine.
recording to dvd is a problem. whether i try the scart route or the s-video route. just cannot seem to get a steady signal. picture is recorded out of synch, ie the frames(?) start halfway off screen.
so i guessed (maybe wrongly) that the pioneer was outputting ntsc signals.
okay now that you have a fuller picture, can you please advise me on what to do next?

you know what?
i suffer from open-mouth-before-engaging-brain-itis.
the problem is macrovision pure and simple.
unfortunately, my datavideo tbc3000 doesn't defeat the macrovision from my laserdiscs.
any ideas which tbc device would?
or alternatively, which dvd recorder can be modified to defeat macrovision?
cheers to ye all.
