I have a two External Pioneer DVR- 111D DVD Burner which just stopped burning, and they keep giving partial burns. They will be burning fine and all of a sudden it just slows down and then stops. It's running and everything seems to be functioning. I have all programs disabled. I have run spyware (Adware & Spybot) and virus programs-nothing found.

I've changed power cords, hooks up and everything. Still the same problem! I know these Pioneer DVD burners are worthless, but I have two of them that I bought at the same time and they both are doing this!

Anyone have any ideas?

Dirty? Clean them by dismantling and swiping with a q-tip dipped in 70% isopropyl "rubbing" alcohol. Then a quick swipe with a dry q-tip. Be super gentle. Do not using a "cleaning" disc.

Maybe remove them from the device manager, reboot, and let Windows re-find them.

Done the device manager deal, didn't work! If they were dirty why would they stop at 30% and 75%?

could it be that batch of dvd discs you're using?
i went through a similar problem but could not find a reason.

maybe its the software?
are you using nero?
try some other burning software.

not much help am i?
i think the simple answer is to plonk down another $30 and see if the new burner works on your system. which may or may not point to the other 2 being faulty.

I'm using Taiyo Yuden 8X-R (Premium) discs. I've been using DVD Decryptor and ImgBurn burn programs to burn.
